Special Treat

Tonight at the Strip outside Dos Mas is an outside Rock Band. Time not a clue. Name of Rock Band not a clue. Can’t find any information anywhere about it. Card shop seem to be the only people with any knowledge at all. Must be because we all enjoyed Saturday nights Rock Band so much.

The mind boggles as to what this can be about

No wind up the road was closed earlier today because of it. I think it is disgusting that the council can play this b awful music and will not let decent artistes earn a living. What a way to celebrate the opening of the Councillor's Office in La marina. Who is celebrating I ask myself. Definitely not the bar owners and local entertainers. If things go on the way there are going we will all be sat at home waiting for GOD. What have we pensioners got to look forward to, No fuel Allowance possibly the large Christmas box we get from the government and when we finally pop our clogs, a large inheritance tax bill. Is it too much to ask that we can go out at least once a week, listen to some music and have a little dance. You work all your life and when you have the time to enjoy yourself someone puts the Kybosh on it. Viva Espania.

It appears that the council office is one year old so the main road is closed and a rock group are playing or have played in the open air, with or without a license, usind a microphone.Sorry have i lost the plot. But isnt this what the 15 councillors have been trying to kill off. Of course if it were an official fiesta it would of been O.K. But if it was official, why thec B****y H**l,wasnt we all invited

Has this already been and gone or is it on tonight? Does not seem to be any information anywhere?

Commented Ian in La Marina 2012-07-10 16:55:13 UTC

it seems as if its tonight Ian. I have not seen it advertised. Its obvious we are not invited. Perhaps its for the Spanish equivalent of the "Order of Freemasons"

They really are extremely bad at publicity. It has not been advertised on any of the forums. If we are not allowed to listen to our age groups music outside. Why are the council flaunting it in our face and making us listen to Rock bands that are outside. These are not the type of music that the over 50s like or would go to see.

Being under 50 and living on the Urb. and have done for over 8 years why can we all not be a little more tolerant of other peoples tastes in music. I listen to all types of music from all genres and yes sometimes rock and heavy metal. All over the Urb. there are acts on covering all tastes so there is definitely something for everyone. I didn't go to either rock concert as my son who is 16 told me that the Spanish can't do rock but I do not object to people enjoying themselves and listening to whatever they want to. We are not all OAP's on the Urb some of us are younger, work, and pay into the system to help support the facilities available to everyone. I think that some people forget that they are in Spain and fiesta and late nights are a tradition here and if not enjoyed by the English should be tolerated by us as it is their lifestyle and we are in their country. So come on everybody live and let live.

To a certain extent i agree with what you say Helsie but, just because we do not do any PAID work, it does not mean we are not paying into the system. We all spend our hard earned pensions in Spain, which helps their economy, we are not spongers living off the Spanish system. If all us OLD Foggies went back, the economy in Spain would go down drastically and who would work in all the charity shops. As Suma payers we are all entitled to our opinions. The day I cannot speak my mind is the day I will board a plane back to blighty.

Helsie
Interesting words regarding paying into the system
Has we all pay our council tax and the added sumo tax in which pays for all the services provided on the Urb.
Only thing most are not paying is a form of National Insurance for health care. But we all carry the European health card in which the Spanish get rein burst for the care given.
